Vale Darryl Hiddle

Motorcycling Australia (MA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Darryl Hiddle, President of the Oceania Motorcycle Union, and former President of Motorcycling Australia and Manager & President of Motorcycling Victoria.

Darryl passed away peacefully yesterday evening alongside his family and close friends.

His contribution to motorcycle sport began in 1966 and his dedication and service has been shown through the various positions he has held within the sport: President of the Oceania Motorcycle Union from 2000, MA President 1992 to 2000, President of MV 1984 to 1985, 1991 to 1992 and 2000 to 2013, MA Councillor 1977 to 1992, Secretary/Manager MV 1973 to 1977, Life Member of Newport / Braybrook Motorcycle Club, Joined Newport MCC in 1966 (Secretary for 16 years). He was also a past contributor to Cycle Torque.

MA’s CEO, David White said: “This is indeed a sad day for motorcycle sport in Australia. Having known Darryl through his dedicated involvement in the management of the sport and as a friend for over 30 years his loss is enormous. He was always able to offer wise advice in his quirky humorous style. He will be missed both in Australia and internationally”.

Motorcycling Australia and Cycle Torque would like to express their deepest sympathies to his family.

The funeral service will be held this Friday at 12 noon at Ashton Manor, 45-55 Main Street, Diamond Creek (Mel Ref 11 K6)

  1. I met Darryl at a Phillip Island meeting,we did recovery for the day.What a wealth of knowledge he had! I would have liked to have known him better,he is sadly missed.

    • Hey Steve, yes he was a veritable wealth of knowledge. I first met him when I started at Cycle Torque over seven years ago. He was a real gentleman and will certainly be missed by the motorcycle community.
