Bayliss and McCoy in King of Nepean

The annual KTM King of Nepean Dirt Track meeting on August 24/25 looks set to bring together the country’s biggest motorcycle racing names including 3 times World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss and Grand Prix race winner Gary McCoy.

Bayliss and McCoy will join Australia’s best Dirt Track names to battle for the record prizemoney and what has become a very prestigious title.

KTM King of Nepean organisers have also added two more events to the program that will feature famous name riders. They have scheduled separate races for All Stars Past Champions and a series of Speedway events which will be run on the 300 metre track in the centre of the venue.

The Speedway events have already attracted entries from the best of Australia’s International Solo riders including 2011 Premier League Winner Sam Masters and 2013 Australian Under 21 Champion Taylor Poole.

Also on the King of Nepean program is a parade for the Legends of the earlier eras.

Since it began operations in 1959, the Nepean track has seen contests involving the sports top names like Bill McDonald, Jim Airey, Terry Poole, Herb Jefferson, Matt Daley and Jim Scaysbrook. Many of these Dirt Track Veterans will be returning to the scene of some of their biggest on-track battles.

Organiser Greg Heatley said: “Nepean has been the hot-bed of dirt track racing in Sydney for more than half a century. Just about everyone raced there at some stage, and that includes top road racers like Len Atlee, Tony Hatton, Peter Goddard, Shawn Giles and lots of others.We are aiming to have as many famous names as possible on hand for the KTM King of Nepean weekend.”
