SA riders shine

NINETEEN-year-old Adelaide rider Daniel Falzon has become the Motul Australian Supersport Champion for 2013.

Riding for Jon Daniels Racing aboard the Caterpillar EPSA Yamaha R6, Daniel put in some outstanding rides during the year, but it was his professional approach and consistent performances that helped him achieve ultimate success. Strong disciplined performance in the final round at Phillip Island was required, and that is exactly what was delivered to secure the Championship win.

The 2013 title follows up Daniel’s success in 2012 in the Superstock Championship, showcasing him as a great Road Racing talent. Motorcycling SA, along with the rest of the country will be keen to follow the future achievements of Daniel Falzon.

Moto Trials provided team success, with SA taking equal first with Victoria in the State Team class at the 2013 Australian Championships held at Sedgewick in Victoria. This is a great result, and from known records appears to be the first time SA has claimed the prize.

Individually SA riders did themselves proud, with Wirrabara young gun Conner Hogan, being runner up, on a count back, in the Open Junior Class, a great achievement in his first year in the class. Barossa duo Chris Schultz and Stuart Gerhardy also finished runner up in the Sidecar class, by a narrow 3 point margin. Fellow South Aussies, Steve Rees and Joel Cramond took out third in the sidecars. Jarrod Barwick and Rob White achieved solid 3rd places in their respective Veterans Classes. The 2013 KTM Junior MX Nationals saw the country’s best young riders converge on Horsham, Victoria, for a weeklong festival of MX racing. SA had great representation at the event, with the State Team members, and all SA riders doing the state proud.
