Spies to miss Jerez MotoGP

Pramac Ducati have announced that Ben Spies will miss the next MotoGP race at Jerez  after suffering tears to his back and pectoral muscles.

The Pramac team posted on their website that the pain felt by Spies at the end of the warm up session last weekend in Austin (Texas), has had more serious consequences than expected.

Spies rode in constant pain during the Texas race and was reported to be on the verge of coming back into the pits.

After finishing in 13th position in his home race, the American rider was seen by his medical staff who advised him to undergo three consecutive weeks of intense rehab in order to alleviate the strain in his pectorals and back muscles.

After being hampered by injury last season when he was riding for the factory Yamaha team, Spies underwent major shoulder surgery before the start of this season.  The Pramac team says his therapy will be focused on limb mobility, thanks to his better physical condition.

Ducati test rider Michele Pirro is tipped to ride the Pramac bike at the Jerez round.
