KTM Australia General Manager Jeff Leisk is swapping his suit for leather, joining the list of legends to take part in the Troy Bayliss Classic, January 18 at Old Bar, Taree.
Hosted by three-time World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss, the Classic has assembled some of the biggest names in Australian motorcycle racing, with many national and world titles being previously claimed amongst the competitors.
The Old Bar circuit is one of the remaining oil tracks, which with slick tyres can approximate the grip level of. For some, this will be the first time racing on the surface.
Former three-time World Speedway Champion Jason Crump has promised spectators “hard and aggressive” racing, but aims on a lighter note “to come away in one piece.”
Similarly, Leisk plans to enjoy himself first and foremost, though being fastest will ensure his enjoyment.
Leisk was one of the most successful Australian motocross exports, taking out the Aussie Mister Motocross twice and finishing runner up in the 500cc class in the 1989 World Motocross Championships.
Tickets for the Troy Bayliss Classic are $30 Adult, $15 Child (5-15), $75 Family (two adult, two child). Gates open at 8am, racing 10am-9pm.
