Hagar’s Ride Against Slavery

The inaugural Hagar Ride Against Slavery led by the First Bloke, Tim Mathieson, will take place this Sunday 14th April.

Beginning with breakfast at Kirribilli House in Sydney, a group of motorcycle riders will travel down to Canberra via the Kangaroo Valley to raise funds for Hagar. The ride will end with a late lunch at The Lodge in Canberra.

Hagar CEO, Kate Kennedy said the exclusive ride will support the Hagar Catch Up School, which provides an accelerated learning program for students that have missed years of schooling, as a result of human rights abuses.

“The UN estimates that up to 2.4 million people are trafficked each year across the world and forced into labour or sexual exploitation. Half of these are children,” Ms Kennedy said.

“Boys as young as 8 are forced to work in brick factories and sold on the streets of Cambodia to pedophiles for $2.50 per week.

“Hagar is an international non-government organisation that specialises in restoring the lives of women and children who have survived modern slavery and severe human rights abuse.

“We do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to restore a broken life,” Ms Kennedy said.

Riders will travel from Sydney via Seacliff Bridge to Kangaroo Valley. There will be a stop in Kangaroo Valley for morning tea.

Riders will arrive at the Lodge, with an official welcome from the International Chair of Hagar Harvey Collins and a late lunch.
